Outlook Android app imap email won't delete

Immediately following an update to add "play my emails" (???) this morning i can no longer delete email from an imap account i connect to through the Android Outlook app. I tried the "reset account" option but that didn't help. I rebooted my phone. That didn't help. Given that problem started after the update and advanced options no longer exist i'm thinking this is on Microsoft to fix. Any other suggestions?

I have just had a Samsung A21S and I am having problems with emails not deleting from outlook/hotmail. I can delete from mavaiptop and my old LG android phone but the emails return to the inbox on the Samsung. Having just got the phone I was unaware of this problem.

As with everyone else I have deleted account and reinstated but to no avail. This is very disappointing and annoying.

    Hi MulcahyN,

We’ve seen that you are having issues deleting IMAP emails through your Outlook for Android application. Let me help you the best way that I can.

Upon checking your description, we might consider that this problem has something to do with the update that you've mentioned. Could you please confirm, which update are you pertaining to? Is it the device update or an application update?

What is the error message that you are getting whenever trying to delete emails?

Is the issue occurring when trying to delete the email directly from the account via browser?

Lastly, have you tried to reinstall the Outlook app? If not, please try it and see if the issue persists.

Using the above information, we should be able to isolate the concern and find out the accurate solution to fix this matter.

We hope to hear an update from you soon.

My concerns stem from an update to the Outlook app.

I am not getting any error messages; i simply cannot delete emails from my imap account. If i mark messages for deletion they reappear. In addition, i can can send emails from my imap account without receiving an error message but copies of those emails no longer appear in my "sent" folder.

I use the Outlook for a work-based imap email account and a Hotmail account. None of the issues i've described are happening with my Hotmail account.

I have not reinstalled the Outlook app. Deleting my imap account from Outlook and then setting it up again temporarily fixed this issue but it reappeared a day or so later.
