    Hi vw,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Did the past month patches install successfully?

The first step would be to try resetting Windows updates using an automatic script. See:

    http://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2015/12/windows...

Make sure you run the script as an administrator.

Please let us know if you need any assistance.

    Hello Sumit,

To the best of my knowledge Windows Updates have been working on this computer in the past.

The script reported that it completed successfully.

However after restarting the computer, the update failed as before.

    Regards,

    VW

Thank you. Apparently, it looks like an assembly file is missing. Can you check if the Advanced troubleshooting steps here help you?

    Hello Sumit,

    I am afraid yes :(

Try doing a repair install. A repair Install keeps everything including Files and applications and reinstalls Windows.

The best and the easiest way is to use first method in the first article.
