OneCore-DeviceAssociationService - Error ID 3503

Hello,

Last night updated my Windows 11 to 24H2 - 26100.2454. Since then everytime when I turn off my pc or do a reboot in Event Viewer I got this error:

OneCore-DeviceAssociationService ID 3503

The Device Association Service dedected an error discovering endpoints.

Event Data

AbortingProtocolProvider Internal DAS error

ClientProcessName c:/Windows/System32/svchost.exe

ClientPid 9664

InternalError 3

Never had this error before. I've seen few other reports from people that they got that too. Wondering is this something serious? Should I worry? Does Microsoft know about it? Is this going to be fixed?

Hi, I’m Vinay. Thanks for reaching out.

I'm here to help you today.

Yes, few other users also reported the issue. It is best to report this issue to Microsoft through the Microsoft Feedback Hub application (Win + F). So they will get to know that users are facing this issue.

In the meantime, try the below steps:

    1. Press win + R, then type "services.msc" and click OK
    2. Look for "Device Association Service," double-click on it, set the Startup type to Manual, and click on Start.
    3. Apply changes and restart your computer.

    Regards,

    Vinay

I'm having the same issue after upgrading to 1124H and in services it was already set to manual start.

Sounds like even Microsoft has no answer to this widespread problem.

Yep same issue here. Microsoft don't make me regret upgrading to windows 11. Please advise or give us a fix. What are the problems that could be caused by setting that service to manual?

I get the same error 3503 on a brand new high-end workstation ($15,000 computer) running Windows 11 for Workstations with a careful and entirely clean install. Everything else works fine, this is the only critical error in the system event log. This error causes a hang during every reboot and delays the reboot by several minutes.

I tried changing the Device Association Service to Manual, but it changes its startup type back to Automatic after the next reboot.

    The description is:

Device Association Service detected an endpoint discovery failure.

    (no other text)

I'm concluding this is a widespread Microsoft bug.
