WH-CH510 bluetooth headphones not connecting correctly to Windows 10 PC

Question

I have owned a pair of Sony HW-CH510 Bluetooth headphones for a few months and have had no issues with them in the past. However, a few days ago, I turned on my computer and they refused to connect. I have been able to connect them to my computer but, when showing up in the Bluetooth and other devices section, they come under Other Devices and I cannot get audio out of them. 

I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting them, turning off and back on both my PC and its Bluetooth but nothing is working. Any ideas?

Ok, I have downloaded the big one. I am on the Zip screen where is has Add, Extract, Test ect. From this screen, how do I install the driver from the zip file? I haven't done this before, sorry.

Jack, are these the drivers showing on your PC maker's Support Downloads web page? Are they different brands of adapters so you can check which is presently installed (if any) in Device Manager?

If not I'd just try installing both of them, starting with the larger one which seems more the right size. it will not take the one which doesn't fit.

There are two Bluetooth Drivers, a newer one of 8.1 MB and a slightly older one of 59.2 MB. Which one do I need?

I am happy to help, Jack. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is how to keep the latest manufacturer's drivers current. Windows drivers are rarely enough.

Go to this Acer webpage to put in the Serial Number of your PC in order to get the exact drivers. If you cannot find the Serial number on the sticker on the PC, click the link that will show you how to find it.

Put in the full correct Serial Number and it should take you to the driver downloads page.

Download the Bluetooth driver, choose to Open with Windows Explorer, highlight the file, choose Extract All, then a location you can find it once it Extracts (usually a folder in the same location), it should open with an .exe file. Right click the .exe file to Run as Administrator and follow the prompts to install the driver.

Confirm the driver installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. While there see if any other devices are in error with a ! mark because they need a driver. Compare all of the drivers on the Acer Downloads page for your model with the ones installed in the Device Manager. For the chipset, check the SATA controller driver. Install any newer drivers, or any drivers that are branded (e.g. Intel) and not generic.

Also keep in mind you have a one year support, repair and replacement warranty that comes with the PC so if problems persist you can call on them to fix or replace it, making sure it gets done soon enough so you can ensure the repairs work in time for the warranty expiration, or extend it. You might also still be under Store return policy.

Hi Greg, I'm really sorry if I seem bad with computers, but I am stuck with installing the Bluetooth driver. I have downloaded it and it brought up a zip file, I am not sure what to do with it and how to install from it. Thank you for helping so far!
