[SOLVED] My laptop won't detect the audio device. Issues with drivers. (Windows 10)

Hello. I've been having some trouble with my laptop lately since it doesn't detect the built-in audio device. Meaning that I can't use the speakers, plugged-in headphones and the built-in mic. If I run the troubleshooter, it asks me what device I'm having trouble with, but it only showed my Bluetooth headphones, which do work. I uninstalled them, but now the troubleshooter says I don't have any problem.

The High Definition Audio Controller in my Devices Manager shows a little yellow triangle, but it shows up under System Devices, not under Sound, video and game controllers or under Audio inputs and outputs.

I tried uninstalling the High Definition Audio Controller and check for hardware changes, but it doesn't do anything, it reinstalls showing the same symbol. I tried updating it using the Windows tools, but no luck, Windows says it's installed and updated. Furthermore, I also downloaded it from my laptop's manufacturer website, but again, no luck. I even tried to use the Download Center for Intel products, but it only recognizes my other audio devices (Bluetooth headphones and Steam drivers for the speakers and the mic).

I don't know what to do, nothing seems to work since the built-in speakers/mic aren't being detected by the laptop itself. It doesn't even make sense that I'm getting this error, I could use my mic a week ago, and I didn't update Windows or any of the Intel drivers. I updated Nvidia graphic drivers, and then I rolled back because they had issues in the last update, so everything should be fine.

My specifications are: i7 Intel Core 8750H with Intel Graphics 630, GTX Nvidia GeForce 1060, 16  GB RAM.

I hope you can help me.

Thank you beforehand.

Edit:

I've found  the  solution myself.  I  did  the  following steps  (don't skip  any!):

  1. Uninstall the  High  Definition Audio Controller*  in  the  Devices Manager.

 * Since  it  doesn't work  properly,  it  should  be  listed  as  System  devices  instead  of   Sound, video and game controllers.

  1.  Shut  down  your  computer. Totally  shut  down, make  sure  it's not  hibernating  or  in  sleep  mode.
  2. Unplug  the  computer.
  3. Hold  the  power  button during  60 seconds.
  4. Plug  the  computer again.
  5.  Turn  on  the  computer  normally. It  should  be fixed.

It  seems like  an  easy  solution, but  it  really  worked.

My name is Jan, I’m an Independent Advisor. I'll be happy to help you. The device driver could be corrupted or outdated. Try each below.

    1. Uninstall all the audio drivers then let Windows reinstall the compatible audio drivers.

    Press Windows key + X

    select device manager

select Sound, video and game controllers

    Uninstall all audio drivers

then check "delete the driver software for this device"

    Click Uninstall.

Open Windows Updates the click "check for updates"

    1. If that didn't work. Restart again these audio services.

In the search box on the taskbar, type services,

find these services from the list, right-click, and then select Restart:

    Windows Audio

    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

    Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

    1. Add a legacy sound driver hardware

    Press Windows key + X

    select device manager

    Click Action

    then Add legacy hardware

    Click Next

select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list

select Sound, video and game controllers

    then next

select the sound or audio device manufacturer

    then click next > finish

    restart your computer.

Thank  you  for  your help, Jan. Sadly, the  first  two  solutions  didn't solve  my  problem. The  third  one  gives  a  blue  screen  when  I  select  the  Realtek  drivers, which  are  the  ones  I  had  installed before.

The   blue  screen  error  is:  System thread exception not handled

    What  failed: rtkvhd64.sys

The error indicates rtkvhd64.sys Realtek Audio Driver. Download the latest driver from the Motherboard manufacturer's site and install.

    Or

    Press Windows key + X

    then select Device Manager

Expand Sound, video and game controllers

Then right-click on your Sound device

Then select Update driver > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

then select "High Definition Audio Device"

Thank  you, I  managed to solve it. After  uninstalling the  problematic driver, I  had  to  do a  full  shut  down  and  reboot.
