Disk 0 read/write at 100%

My Disk 0 (C:) drive is at 100% read/write yet I am not doing anything on the computer. I upgraded to Windows 11 Home but had this problem on Windows 10 Home. I have tried all the suggestions given, that I deemed safe, that were out in the www, but to no avail. I am hoping not to have to go nuclear and reformat my hard drive and start from scratch. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

    Igor,

Thank you for your response. I tried everything you suggested and everything came back normal. I viewed the chkdsk log from the event viewer and no issues were found. See screen shots below.

    Hi Sabtampa,

My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

This may be due to hardware problems unfortunately.

Please run Task manager, open Performance tab, select Disk C: at the left and show a screenshot of entire window.

If this is HDD please check its health with CrystalDiskInfo tool.

Please check system journal (Event Viewer) for possible errors at these moments, especially disk errors. DistributedCOM errors should be ignored.

Or save system journal to evtx file and share it to OneDrive for analysis.
