Inconsistent Ethernet connectivity problem

Hello,

I’ve recently switched to Verizon Fios internet, it’s basically satellite internet with a router capable of all your normal internet features.

Though with this internet…I’m connected via ethernet cord and when ping testing (both in the command app and in videogames) I’ll have the expected 30-60ms ping, but every 10 seconds (very randomly) it will spike up to around 200ms then go back down instantly, No packet loss.

I can provide pictures of ping -t, and footage lmk

This never happened with my old ISP (Spectrum). I do understand this might be a Verizon Fios issue but it seems the spikes are too artificial.

Browsing and streaming works absolutely fine.

Some steps I took to troubleshoot:

  1. Fresh install of Windows 10
  2. Optimizing network settings
  3. Configuring Router settings (QoS, DNS, etc.)
  4. VPN

I have a GbE controller.

My pc does not support Wifi but I’m sure the Ethernet cable is not the problem because it never happened on my old ISP.

What I want to know:

Other people having similar issues? Especially Verizon internet customers

Something in Windows causing the issue?

Anyone knowledgeable in Internet technology and troubleshooting.

    Hi,

Did your old ISP also use satellite connection? Have you already contacted your new ISP about this issue?

Some third party program or application installed in Windows may be causing this problem. You mentioned the VPN, I don't understand if you are using it or not, if you are using it, try disabling or uninstalling it temporarily.

Specify which is your Firewall/Antivirus in use.
