HID-compliant game controller still preventing monitor from sleeping in 2023

Hoping someone can help with this. It is a very simple issue: The HID-compliant game controller in Device Manager prevents my monitor from sleeping. This is an issue A TON of people have had if you merely search on this forum. And yet, there doesn't appear to be any interest in fixing the issue.

I have an 8BitDo - Ultimate 2.4g gamepad that I keep plugged in to my PC for gaming. However, with it plugged in, my monitor will not sleep. I had the SAME problem with a Logitech gampad before that.

When I disable HID-compliant game controller, my monitor goes to sleep after the power scheme idle time (I set it to 1 minute for testing). When the HID-compliant game controller is enabled, it will not go to sleep. Yes I have unchecked "allow this device to wake the computer." Yes I have also done the power shell DOS command as well.

The problem is CLEARLY the HID-compliant game controller driver, which apparently hasn't been updated since 2006.

Is there any fix to this issue that doesn't require me to enable/disable this driver every time I want to do something? Is there any interest in fixing an issue that has been an issue for years? Perhaps Microsoft needs to update this 17-year-old driver?

I mean, look at these links:

Please, help. This is ludicrous and I shouldn't have to disable a driver or unplug a peripheral to make a basic OS function work properly. And no, do not tell me to reinstall Windows. Or repair it (tried that already). I had the same problem under Windows 10 as well. Silly me to think the upgrade to 11 would fix it.

"which apparently hasn't been updated since 2006"

Incorrect if its Windows supplied. The date remains the same but the version does get increased. They have reasons for doing it that way.

I agree though that there's an issue with suspend of monitor/system with default settings.

But, seen this with Linux too as well as worse there so its not just Windows lol. You need to look past that. Its a problem of the over complexity of computers today and not enough testing.

Regardless, its possible to overcome the issue through either changes with power/drivers in the OS or the BIOS power settings. I've never once seen it not possible to overcome any monitor/system suspend issue even if its more aggressive for a time. If you think its not possible then you're incorrect.

That said, your viewpoint and words don't reflect well for wanting to have help and there are solutions that you won't do. If it were my own computer I would because I have.

Actually, I will add, the monitor suspension is heavily involved with the GPU driver and hardware. Its difficult to say if that's interacting badly here, if there's a sleep state issue. or something else going on since there's not enough correct info supplied.

    > That said, your viewpoint and words don't reflect well for wanting to have help and there are solutions that you won't do.

It's an issue that has persisted from 10 to 11, one that tons of people have suffered and one that should not require a full reinstall of an OS. I won't apologize for not meeting your standard of deserving help.

Do you have any actual potential solutions or not? Because your post doesn't appear to include anything other than unhelpful chiding.

yeah, same here on two systems Win11 PRO and different controller's Logitech X56 and Win Wing HOTAS ORION2+F-18 Enhanced stick. Doesn't matter AMD or INTEL based.
The only solution for me at this moment is EXTERNAL USB HUB with turn on/off capability per port in form of on/off buttons.
