Windows 11 FPS drops when moving mouse / screen in some games.

Recently I bought an Asus Zephyrus Duo 16,

great laptop, could run pretty much anything with good fps,

Apex, which is the main game I played would run at 180~ fps constant almost all the time with occasional dips in certain areas,

but nonetheless the game ran perfect.

However, recently after moving my setup (and also changing monitors from 2560x1440 @ 240Hz to 1920x1080 @ 165Hz) I noticed that, specifically in Apex i've been getting awful fps drops, only when moving my mouse,

which results in sluggish gameplay and almost like my sensitivity changes, making the game unplayable.

I haven't really tweaked any settings since moving my setup, and the GPU and CPU temps are fine (up to 85~ for CPU and 75 for GPU).

However, when moving my mouse in game the frame dips from a constant 163 FPS to 130, 110, sometimes even 50 FPS. Although, locking my FPS to 60 fps completely gets rid of the issue, but I really need the higher FPS.

That being said, actual CPU and GPU utilisation does not change whatsoever.

Also, when I stop moving my mouse the performance is smooth.

I've already tried setting a lower polling rate, my power plan is set to best performance, and Asus Turbo mode is on. I don't think it's a problem with my mouse or laptop specifically, as I've changed polling rates and used other mice with no effect and this issue seems to only affect Apex.
I have also tried uninstalling my NVidia and AMD drivers, reinstalled latest drivers, still didn't work and even rolled back a few updates and yet it just won't work.

Any ideas?

Update: I noticed that this issue is replicated in Black Ops 2, same story- 500~ fps and drops to 100, and in Overwatch I have general fps drops not related to mouse movement. In games which rely much less on GPU power, such as Minecraft, I don't really notice an effect, so I'm not sure anymore.

Thank you for the reply, although I couldn't resolve the issue, I have found the root cause of the problem. The Asus software Armoury Crate, when turned on Turbo Mode was reducing my framerate. When I use the performance mode, my frame rate is actually higher, but I still can't access turbo mode.

Hello, I am using a Razer Viper Ultimate, and yes, I've already changed polling rates multiple times and even tried using different mice, to no effect. I will say that recently it appears that I'm having FPS drops when looking far distances or moving around, so essentially when the image changes, there are frame drops.

Thanks again, and unfortunately the issue still persists, and it seems I was mistaken as even after uninstalling the Asus Armoury Crate, the problem is still there, even when running my laptop in Asus performance mode, or simply Windows power plan. My current BIOS version is up to date, and I can't tweak settings in BIOS for some reason.

Thanks for the reply. If the Manufacturer's software utilities are causing the problem here are some things you can try. Ensure that the laptop has its charger plug-in while gaming.

    1. Try to fully uninstall the Armoury crate, then download the latest version of the software and reinstall it.

    How to uninstall Armoury Crate

    https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041654/

    1. But if the Armoury crate is still causing performance issues. Try to set it to Windows mode. Then set the Windows original Power plan to "high performance".

Also, check the NVidia software and set it as your preferred GPU.

Change the power mode for your Windows PC

    https://support.microsoft.com//windows/change-t...

    Check Windows Graphics settings.

    Click Search

    then search "Graphics Settings"

    Under the list of applications

Select the application/game, click the option then set it to high performance

    1. Ensure that you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS updates.

Set the BIOS settings to their optimal defaults.

Hello, I'm Jan and I'm happy to help you today. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this problem. FPS drop can be caused by outdated drivers or background applications. Also, Make sure Windows is updated.

    1. Check if you have any available restore points then perform a system restore. As there might be an update or changes in the system that is causing the FPS drop. Use System Restore

    https://support.microsoft.com//windows/use-syst...

    1. Try to reinstall and update these device driver graphics, audio, and chipset. Download them directly at the Manufacturer's support website and install them. Do not use any driver updater software to download the latest drivers.

Clean and install both AMD and Nvidia graphics drivers.

    Display Driver Uninstaller

    https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

Run the application from Safe mode.

    https://support.microsoft.com//windows/start-yo...

    Select Clean and restart

    Once the drivers are uninstalled

Install the latest Graphics Card driver

    1. Disable unnecessary applications programs that are running from the startup

    Press CTRL+ALT+Delete

    Then click on Task Manager

    Then Navigate to Startup Tab

( from there you can Disable unnecessary applications running from the startup)

    1. Perform a Clean Boot to disable unnecessary startup and services

    https://support.microsoft.com//topic/how-to-per...

    1. If you have any third-party antivirus or cleaners installed. Fully uninstall them using their removal tool.

    restart your computer

    1. Run "system file checker" to scan and repair corrupted system files

Open the command prompt as an administrator.

Then type in each command and press Enter.

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    restart your computer.

    1. This will upgrade and repair your system without losing your files and apps.

Download the Media creation tool here.

    https://www.microsoft.com//software-download/wi...

    Then choose "ISO"

Once it is downloaded click or open the file using the windows explorer

Then open or click "setup" to run.

    1. If that didn't work. Check if there are any installed ASUS power management or utilities. Ensure that any power saving is disabled.
