What different on Date / Date Modified / Date Create in Windows 11

Hi,

I am confused by Windows Files Explorer.

What is "Date" n Windows Files Explorer?

You can see the pictures below.

These files were taken on August 17, 2022, at 4:18PM, 4:20PM, and 4:32PM.
When I open the Windows Files Explorer to view these files on the SD Card

It shows the correct time.

But when copying to an internal SSD, the tab "Date" changes the timestamp to 7 hours forward.

The Date Modified tab shows the same timestamp on the SD Card, and Date Created shows the timestamp of the time when I copied to the HDD. (I understand this.)

But the question is why the tab "Date" is showing 7 hours forward (11:17PM, 11:19PM, and 11:21PM). (files are copied at about 4:37PM

Does anyone have an idea on this?

Hello, I’m Virginia, I have 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends’ PC problems.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems.

Date created is the date when the file was originally added or created using an app or program.

Date Changed/updated is the time/date when the file was transferred to another device (from phone/camera to PC or between drives) or when it was last edited via an app or program.

I hope this answers your question.

You aren't displaying the Date column in your first screenshot, so you're comparing to Date modified which is kind of apples to oranges. In general, the Date property for pictures and movies will be the same as Date taken. I suggest you display both Date and Date taken at both locations and compare those columns. They should be the same.

Then the question might be why doesn't Date modified match Date taken. If it were an exact number of hours difference, I would suspect a time zone issue, but PANA0439 is 4:32 and 11:21 respectively. That's a little less than 7 hours. And I would expect, if there is a difference, that Date modified would be the newer date than Date taken if the picture was edited.

Any chance the camera's clock was set incorrectly? That might be a factor in all this.

The picture was taken at 4:18PM. 4:20PM, 4:32PM

Why does my computer show "Date" forward to 11:xx PM?

I am sure that my camera and PC time and time zone are correct and synced and show the present time of recording, as you can see the date created timestamp on the LUMIX card (Picture 1).

The question is why the timestamp on the "Date" tab is not accurate when copying to the computer and why in change forward for about 7 hours from 4: xx PM to 11: xx PM?

You've shown no evidence that the Date attribute changed when the file was copied. All we know, from those screen shots, is that Date differs from Date modified or Date created.

Please show a screenshot of the original drive with the Date property displayed. Let's see if that property actually changed when the file was copied.
