POTENTIAL SOLUTION-what is this red microphone icon, and how do I get rid of it?

I've seen a few people with this question, and I had the same one and thought I would post my solution. I was seeing this icon and was unable to move it or interact with it (see image below). It only appeared after I purchased a logitech keyboard and mouse and installed the app that lets you manage their accessories. It was indicating that my mic was muted because in my testing the new keyboard I had pressed fn and f6 which is the keyboard shortcut for muting mic. Once I pressed it again the mic was unmuted and the icon disappeared. I hope this helps others with the same issue!

It's the Logitech Logi Options + "Mic mute/unmute notification" setting...switch it to off, and the icon disappears

Run Logi Options + -> select settings (the gear in the upper right) -> scroll to the very last setting -> slide switch to "off"/left

    and there ya go!

    Hi Tessethia,

I agree with Kevin's answer. However, I believe you might have 'Logi Options +' installed & it's the same microphone icon that is being displayed there.

    Best Regards,

    Aamir

    Hi

The suggested solution didn't work for me.

After a lengthily search for other solutions, nothing worked till I found this procedure as a fix.

1- Go to Settings. Select "SYSTEM".

    2- Select "SOUND".

3- Select the Microphone and press on ">"

4- You will see "/" on the microphone image.

5- Click on the Microphone image. This will UNMUTE the microphone. The red Muted Microphone icon on the main screen will disappear

Aha! Or, since this is associated with a keyboard that has a mic mute/unmute button (looks just like that icon)...hit that button (same button as F9 on the MX Keys Mini).

    Hi tessethia-

I'm Kevin B. Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience, let me help you sort things out.

Is there any applications running on the background that might running that microphne?

    Kindly open your taskbar settings.

    Go to Notification area.

Choose Select which icons appear on the taskbar.

Turn them off one by one and see if the microphone will remove.

Turn back on your previous icons to show on system tray.

Also, try to restart your computer using cleanboot.
