CPU stuck at 0.5 GHz after tueday patch KB5008215

Hi,

I encountered a weird bug with the last Tuesday patch.

I couldn't log in after the first reboot.

My mouse was stuttering and I was unable to type my password or anything...

Second reboot seemed fine but after a while I noticed my Ryzen 9 3900X was struggling doing some basic stuff like web browsing, reading emails...

I opened task manager and saw the CPU frequency was stuck at 0,5 GHz (screenshot).

I think it was working fine for a few hours and then locked itself at 0,5GHz.

I had a few reboot to see how it goes, tried a few tricks I saw online (disabled game mode, disable fast startup...), nothing worked.

I finally uninstalled the update and it fixed the issue right away.

I though I was going to find a lot of similar stories online but did not.

Am I the only one with this issue ?

My config is : Ryzen 9 3900X / Asus Crosshair VIII Formula / 64Gb of Corsair Dominator CL18 / RTX 3080 Founder's Edition

EDIT : The issue is because of iCue. The last update of November makes a lot of x570 system to crash.

    Last update.

I finally found out a couple days ago the reason of this mess was the last update of iCue (a software to control Corsair products).

I installed a previous version and now everything is working fine.

Apparently it affects a lot of Asus x570 boards.

There's a whole thread about it on Corsair forum : https://forum.corsair.com/forums/topic/172077-icue-causing-system-to-hangcrash/

Well, after some day, the issue was still there even without the windows update.

So it was apparently due to an instable RAM overclock.

The DOCP profile is not stable anymore with the lastest BIOS updates, so that explains it.

I set the RAM to full auto and it seems to be running fine.

I might try to tweak the settings to get better results in a near future and try to reinstall the windows update.

Hope you guys can figure out what's going on with your issue as well.

My first advice would be to reset your BIOS to default and start from there.

    Hello 123456789lizheglisbvzev,

I am Jaspreet Singh an independent advisor.

This particular issue does pop up from time to time usually due to BIOS updates pending or not compatible with current updates. The solution is to reset BIOS to default or if available updating the BIOS to most recent update by the manufacturer.

It can also be caused if the update was corrupted while downloading or installing.

    Thanks for your answer.

I might try to install it again manually when I have some time and see how it goes.
