Hi,

SITUATION
Deploying 80 New PC's with 21H1 while using a USMT capture from the older 1603 LTSB machine.
First we create a MDT TS to captare the profiles data on the old 1607 LTSB machines

PROBLEM
USMT is not taking the C:\Users\UserA\AppData\Local\Google
Uzers have nobookmarks nor passwords when restoring that USMT mig on the new 21H1

ACTION TAKEN
Downloaded USMT from MS site on the Source machine, restored on the new. it does copy the google/chrome folder

QUESTION
How do I upgrade the USMT within the MDT deployment server? I want to be sure before I just copy the tool over and break something :)

    Hi, @Jurgen Verhelst
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
USMT is a feature within Windows ADK, we just uninstall the old version ADK, then download and install the latest ADK.

    Ok thanks,

Wich XML files does the MDT use to configure the USMT. And where are they stored? I want to add a folder to migrate. so I guess I need to edit to migapp.xml MDT is using.

    Hi, @Jurgen Verhelst
XML templates control exactly what data is being migrated. You can control data within and outside the user profiles.
So, for the default location installation, the xml file is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool

    Dear Allen,

The removal and installation installs the new USMT on the defualt path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool).

I was looking how to update the USMT in the tools folder of the MDT deplouymentshare. the ZTIUserSate.wsf does not look in the default location but in the deploymentshare:

    D:\DeploymentShare\Tools\x64\USMT5

Any guidance on how to do that?

    Hi, @Jurgen Verhelst
You are right, the ZTIUserSate.wsf look in the folder under deployment share.
I do not find such a guidance to update the USMT in the tools folder of the MDT deploymentshare, but I think we may manually copy from C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool\amd64 to %MDTDeploymentShare%\Tools\x64\USMT5, below article is not a guidance but according to it, we may manually copy it. You may rename the USMT5 folder, and create a new USMT5 folder then copy to it.
