Changjie keyboard unable to switch input mode from English mode to Chinese mode

I am using "Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan)" in windows 10 (Version 20H2, OS Build 19042.1348), and I am using "Microsoft Changjie" as my keyboard.

In the original design of the Changjie keyboard, input mode can be switched between 英 (i.e. English mode) and 中 (i.e. Chinese mode), so that users can type either English or Chinese depending on the mode they select. There are three ways that users can switch between the two modes:

  1. simply click the mode button by mouse; or
  2. press "Shift"; or
  3. press "Shift + Ctrl"

However, in my Windows, I am unable to switch between the two modes. The icon only shows 英 English mode, no matter how many times I clicked it, or no matter how many times I pressed the "Shift" button. It doesn't switch to the Chinese mode, so I cannot type Chinese characters.

When I am not typing, there is a small chance that I can switch the mode to the Chinese mode. But when I tried to type again (for example, I clicked my notepad to activate the cursor), the 英 icon will automatically switch to the 中 icon. Therefore it turns out that I still can't type any Chinese.

I tried to remove the Changjie keyboard and added it back, but it doesn't work. I also tried to remove "Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan)" and added it back, but still doesn't work. It is so annoying and any ideas on how to solve it? Thanks!

    Good day,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand from your description that Changjie keyboard is unable to switch through the three ways.

I downloaded the keyboard and tested your situation, then there is a screenshot of my notification.

Then I go Settings>Time & Language>Language>Chinese (Traditional Taiwan) and see this:

In this case, the situation maybe caused by the installation stagnate of the keyboard.

Please wait for its fully installation and check if you can switch normally.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

    Best Regards,
