Hi robert-vdk,
Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community. We understand you need help fixing this problem with Realtek HD audio. Let's go over with this together.
We would like to ask some additional information to properly replicate this problem in our end. Kindly provide us an answer to this questions.
- What is the make and model of the speaker/headphone?
- How old is the device?
- Were you able to use the 2nd output before?
- Did you try using a different speaker/headphone?
You can try performing this troubleshooting.
- keep the Audio driver to the latest update, or uninstall the installed audio driver, reboot your computer, and let the system reinstall the driver automatically.
- Windows + R > type devmgmt.msc and Enter > look for Sound, Video and Game Controller > right click Realtek high definition audio device > click uninstall >restart your computer
- its also possible that the onboard audio might be disabled in the BIOS, which will show the speaker and headphone not plugged in. Please restart the computer and enter the BIOS setup (generally by pressing the F10 or F2 function keys at the very beginning of the boot process, you can refer to the user’s manual for detailed information). In the BIOS setup, find the section for integrated devices and enable the integrated audio (onboard audio). Restart the computer, test again.
We hope this help!
Sincerely,
Leonardo_Y
