Adding a person to a chat or meeting and sharing history

Hi there

I am wondering if I invite someone new to a private chat, whether they can see chat history and if they can, is there any limit to how far back the chat can go.  I.e. does it show everything or history for a limited period?

Also does it work if it's a general chat? I.e. is there a difference.

I understand the person who invites the participant has to select 'share history' with the new participant but just making sure this applies in all situations.

Adding or including the chat history applies to a group chat, not one-on-one.

Teams will save the whole chat history, all the way back to the first message. And if someone leaves the group, their chat responses are still there in your chat history.

To answer your last question, yes It applies to public and private chats.

Hey can I ask one extra question - does the person added to a chat have access to files and meeting notes if the chat is converted to a meeting.

I guess I'm asking does the same apply to meets as to chats - you can see history, meeting notes and files.
