Missing "Teams" icon on the left side of the Microsoft teams

Hi, I've just downloaded Microsoft Teams app for one of my college courses. I need to join a team instead of a chat. Our instructor just provided us the invitation code of the team and told us to click "Teams" and then click "Join or create team". But I could not find the "Teams" icon on the left side. Could you help me with this issue? I really appreciate that, thank you very much!

Based on the screenshot you provided, my understanding is you are using Teams desktop app on a Mac machine, please clarify if I misunderstand your scenario, thanks.  If so, first please double check have you opened the Teams app with full screen mode or a bigger size, generally if the opened window with a small size, the Teams icons in the left hand maybe hided, so please try to make the Teams with a full screen mode and then see if you could find the 'Teams " icon there, thanks.

Moreover, if you cannot find the Teams icon with a full screen mode, in this case to isolate if the problem is related to your Teams account or the desktop app, in this case please use your account to sign in the Teams Web App and then see if you could find the icon there, you could access the Teams web via https://teams.microsoft.com/.

I have the same issue on Win 10 21h1 and teams 1.4.00.11161 (64-bit). It was last updated on 24/05/2021.

This is a personal free account, not Business but I have a Microsoft 365 family subscription

I have the sam issue when viewing online.
