Teams file sharing "People currently in this chat" default option

Hello everybody,

I'm on Teams and looking at the files sharing options, I noticed that there's a quite useful sharing option when sharing a file in a chat/meeting: "People currently in this chat".

Is there a way to enforce this at tenant level as the default option only for Teams? As I would like to keep the "People in my organization" default sharing option for all OneDrive files, except for Teams. Do you think it's possible? I'm rummaging around both SharePoint and Teams admin centers, but I can't seem to find anything relevant to this specific case.

Many thanks!

R

Hi randomRic_7,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Forum.

Based on your description, you want to set the Teams file sharing "People currently in this chat" option to be default at tenant level.

This "People in my organization" sharing option when sharing a file in a chat/meeting is a setting for Teams meeting level, and it is not currently accessible to be set as the default sharing option for all OneDrive files, and it cannot be enforced at tenant level as the default option exclusively for Teams. I'll have to do some more research on this and get back to you as soon as I find something useful.

As this is something you need to have in both Teams and SharePoint, please create a Uservoice item in the Microsoft Teams · Community where it may be voted on and Microsoft will review it for implementation.

Please let us know if you need any more assistance! Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

De Paul
