Microsoft Teams - user in organization but without license(not guests)

I understand that Microsoft Teams it is free to use. We are a start-up with 20 employees but I have license Office365 Premium Business only for 10 (because they work at office.

For another 10 I want to use Teams but without license because they work on the field and use only Teams on mobile.

My ask is: I can create in Admin page the users without license and use the credential to use Teams? (if it is free) and be part of internal organization. This user are not guest or we do not consider them guests.

Please let me know if this will work or what will be other possibility to touch mu goal.

 Thx

Hi AdrianMurariu,

Microsoft released Teams free org - free version with limited functionalities. Depends on your organization Teams settings, you can add and assign with this free license.

Regarding differences between Teams and Teams free, please check the article https://support.office.com/en-us/article/differences-between-microsoft-teams-and-microsoft-teams-free-0b69cf39-eb52-49af-b255-60d46fdf8a9c.

In order to manage external access, please refer to this official article - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/differences-between-microsoft-teams-and-microsoft-teams-free-0b69cf39-eb52-49af-b255-60d46fdf8a9c.

However, please keep in mind that guest access can also be configured very similar as external access so I'd like to suggest you to inform more about Guest access in Microsoft Teams.

Please let me know if you have further questions or if I can help you with further settings.

Best regards,

Nemanja

    Hello,

I tried to put setting on Microsoft Team to accept only user in organization.... I create users without Office 365 assigned.

After that we install Microsoft Teams desktop version and mobile version. This user can login and be part of Channels. After first login appears a sort message..something like "...enjoy your free trial..." but until now it works....maybe that message was something default and it is not a trial use.

    Thx

    Adrian
