In order to allow any site to have Anyone links you have to enable Anyone links for the entire tenant. Is it possible to set the default external sharing policy for new sites to NOT enable Anyone links but then manually enable Anyone links on a few sites where desired? I want to use Anyone links but not for every site.....

Afaik you cannot override the sharing type control, it has to be equal to the tenant setting, or more restrictive. You can however override the link expiration window and such.

    Hi @wick111 ,

Each site collection has its own sharing setting which you can set independently, though it must be at the same or more restrictive setting as the organization.

1.Set tenant external sharing setting: SharePoint admin center >Police > Share.

2.Set site collection external sharing setting: SharePoint admin center > Active site > The site you want to be anyone links > Policies > External sharing > Edit.
Note: Remember to set other site collection external sharing setting you want.
