Limit Microsoft List image selection to specific document library

I am creating a list where I want users to be able to select an image for each item. Currently the default for selecting an image is a windows explorer view to navigate to an image on your hard drive. I want to open a specific document library (in the same Team's channel) for the user to select the image from. Any other words, when they select the image only one library (or one folder in a library) shows and prohibits the user from navigating elsewhere.

Ideally this would also only link the image and not create another copy of the image to reduce space required for the list.

Any thoughts on how to achieve this with lists? Once established this list would be shared with outside users to add the image to the list item.

    Hi Bryan Ogle,

As per your description, yes when we add image in Microsoft list via click on Attachments or add a “Image” column in Microsoft list and by default (for selecting an image) it will navigate to windows explorer on your locally drive in Microsoft team channel or in SharePoint online list.

Since, you mentioned, “I want to open a specific document library (in the same Team's channel) for the user to select the image from” what you can do is, use OneDrive sync client app to sync your specific SharePoint online image document library on your pc then you navigate to sync SharePoint library in file explore and see if this meet your requirement

I appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

    Waqas -

Thank you for your comment and recommendation to us OneSrive Sync to access files on a team channel. That will not work in my situation, since a remote user will be the one setting the images they will may not have access to one drive.

    Thanks,

    Bryan
