Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams categories
Dear Britt Tabor,
Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
Unfortunately, as of now, Microsoft Teams does not offer the ability to set specific notification sounds for individual contacts or groups. You can customize the overall notification sound for all messages, but not for specific senders or groups.
However, here are a few workarounds you can consider:
- If you're part of multiple Teams, you can adjust notification settings for each team/channel individually. This way, you can set different notification or behaviors for different workspaces.
- Mark important contacts or groups as "priority." This will ensure their notifications are highlighted and may play a different sound, depending on your device settings.
- If you're using a device like a smartphone, you can often customize notification sounds for specific apps. You might be able to assign a unique sound to the Teams app or even individual contacts within the app.
While these workarounds may not provide the exact level of customization you desire, they can help you differentiate between different types of notifications and prioritize important messages.
We apologize if we are not able to meet your requirements; however, thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will surely raise your concerns to our Product Team and hopefully this can be considered in the future updates. In the meantime, consider submitting a feature request to Microsoft through the Teams UserVoice portal. A large number of user requests can influence Microsoft's development priorities. Link to the UserVoice request: Microsoft Teams · Community. Microsoft is continually updating Teams, so it's possible that future updates may introduce features that address this specific need.
For other concerns, please do not hesitate to add you post in the Microsoft Community Team.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
