I want to modify the XML of an object in my presentation. How do I find and edit this? I've been trying instructions on the web saying to unzip it, but Archive Utility, the built in compression app on the Mac, and it is not working.

If the built-in archiving utility on your Mac is not able to extract out the PowerPoint file after you change the file extension to .zip, try downloading another 3rd party zip archiving utility to see if that will work on your Mac.

You don't say why you want to hack the XML. There's an excellent site that describes many XML hacks for Mac PowerPoint:

DavidM121 is correct that Archive utility won't work for unzipping and re-zipping the XML files. I use the free version of WinZip for Mac and it works very well for this purpose. Stuffit for Mac might also work, but I haven't tried it.
