Import a vCard or vcf into my contacts or People space

If I receive an email from somebody with a vCard or .vcf attachment, how do I add it to my Outlook.com "People" contacts.

Currently, when I download the vCard attachment it tries add it to Windows Contacts or Outlook.com.

However, what I was hoping could happen is that it is automatically added to Outlook.com .... afterall, isn't the idea of Outlook.com to avoid email clients like Outlook email.

Hi Karlos,

Please be informed that the feature you are inquiring about is really a great idea and would be a convenientfeature to have. I will submit this request to our product team.

As a workaround, you can use Windows Live Mail client. This has a feature wherein you can import and export vCard.

To download the latest version of Windows Live Mail, click **here**.

To import/export vCard, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your Windows Live Mail.
  2. Sign in to your email account.
  3. Go to Contacts.
  4. Click Import to import vCard and Export to export it.

    I could not find how to import it without converting to csv first. However, on my Windows10 phone I could just open the file with the people app and add it to my account. I'm sure it would also work on Windows 8 and higher pc's.

    Google mail has the capabilities that you need, and is the best alternative for now.

    hi i just bouight lumia1020 . there is no sd card slot. is there any other way that i can import vcf to my to my lumia. or would u recommend other apps. does microsoft have this apps already? thanks in advance

    Great, good to know that my question made sense and turns out to be a good idea to have native in Outlook.com.

    In the meantime, I do not have Windows Live Mail installed ... is there a download location to get the very minimum install of Live Mail ... I do not wish to install more than needed.

    That is, what is the minimum install required and how do I specifically get that ?
