Where is the Temporary folder?

I'm new to computers and new to Windows 7. When I download a program it indicates it is being downloaded to a Temporary folder. Is this folder somewhere in our galaxy? Is there any way I can set things up so I know exactly what path to follow to find downloads?

    Hi Daniel2816,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Forum!

Normally the path of Temp folder will be

    C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Temp

In order to locate temporary folder in windows 7, follow the below steps:

    1. Click Start, in the search box, type CMD.
    2. Right click on CMD and choose run as Administrator.
    3. In the command prompt type ECHO %Temp%.

This displays the full path of the actual temp folder and you can follow the path and identify its location by copying the entire path and pasting it in Run command or in search options.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks & Regards,

    Supreeth - Microsoft Support.

It is most likely in the following location

    C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Temp

The "<username>" would be the name of the user signed on to the PC, therefore, if your username for the PC is daniel, the path would be:

    C:\Users\daniel\AppData\Local\Temp

It is most likely in the following location

    C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Temp

The "<username>" would be the name of the user signed on to the PC, therefore, if your username for the PC is daniel, the path would be:

    C:\Users\daniel\AppData\Local\Temp

I followed the above stated steps, but coming to pasting the copied path I could not .

Where can I find the Run command or search option?

In the lower left corner where the Start button would be, click on the Windows-in-Circle symbol, the edit field that appears directly above says "Search Programs and Files". Overwrite that with "CMD" and any other command you would put in the Run field of previous versions.

Right click Task bar >> Left click 'properties' >> On new window, across the top click on 'start menu' >> click tab 'customize' >> on new window, scroll down and select box 'run command' >> click 'okay'>> click 'Apply'

Click on 'start' or the 'Pearl button' bottom left corner>>on start menu click 'run' >> IN the dialog box type 'temp'>> click 'Okay'>> will open temp folder

    Also

    Start>> Run>>'%temp%' >> Okay>>Opens all temp files

    Hope it helps
