Sorting PST folder

I have Outlook 365 for business and am using a 64-bit Windows 7 machine with SP1.   I regularly have a few dozen PST files open in Outlook - one for each project I currently have ongoing.  The bulk of them are titled in the pattern of "##.###.## - Project Name (Client Name)" with the #s being digits, for example 19.530.16.  Normally when I create a PST file it gets automatically sorted in the list based on numerical/alphabetical order.  A few days ago this sorting stopped, and now all new PST files are placed at the very bottom of the list of open ones.  I'm not aware of any changes/updates on my computer, and didn't change any settings.  Can anyone help me get the auto-sort working again?  Thank you.

    Version 1905

    Build 11629.20214 Click-to-Run

    Monthly Channel

I am aware I can drag and drop them into position.  I'd like to have it auto-sort them like it has for years.  I create several new PSTs each day and have quite a few open PSTs, so the auto-sort was very helpful.  If anyone can help with this, that would be great.

I haven't ever had an issue with the full stop in the filename.  I believe because there are so many characters after, those characters don't get mistaken as an extension.  If you meant some other possible problem, I don't understand.

It looks like the update to the build I listed above was on June 11, which is right about when this started happening.  It looks like the build updated again on 6/13/2019 to 16.0.11629.20246, but it is still not sorting the pst folders.  I've tried repairing the installation but it made no difference.  I have not tried creating a new profile or reverting to the earlier version because they both sound like there is a risk of losing my data if I don't backup.  Not something I really want to risk on a work computer.  So if there isn't a setting somewhere that I can turn back on, I guess I'm stuck manually organizing them.

    Hi Allen,

Thanks for the update. You may try to online repair Office application program to check this issue. For your reference: Repair an Office application

Does this issue recently happen after updating to latest version 1905 Build 11629.20214 Click-to-Run?

To eliminate the possibility that there's a fault in user current Outlook profile, create a new profile to see whether the problem still occurs.

Note: If you have local data that is not present on the Cloud/Server. In that case, we recommend that you backup/export the data before creating a profile.

Moreover, if the troubleshooting steps above doesn’t help and the issue happened after updating to latest click to run Office 365, you may roll back to the earlier workable version as a workaround. See How to revert to an earlier version of Office 2013 or Office 2016 Click-to-Run

Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal

Within OL, File>Account will show version/build/channel

In OL, the treeview folder pane, that shows the mail accounts/Personal folders - If all folders are minimised, you can drag/drop a folder to the required position.

Personally I would have thought it unwise to name a pst to include a fullstop
