corporate Outlook account email to a recipient Gmail account - recall process question

I sent an email from corporate Outlook account to a recipient Gmail account. I then recalled it, which I have found out will not work. Not a big deal since the message was not a bad one. But can someone tell me how many times the recipient will receive a "recall attempt" email from me? She has received 2 and I wish to stop those. I read somewhere that Exchange will try three times and then stop, which would be a good outcome. Thanks.

    Hello Barryshapiro,

Thanks for your prompt reply. As I mentioned in my last reply, we cannot recall the message that you sent to the Gmail recipient.

However, as the Gmail user received two emails from you, a possible reason is that you selected the option “Delete unread copies and replace with a new message” when trying to recall the message.

If this is your case, then based on my test result, the Gmail user will only receive the current two emails and will not receive any further messages.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer

    Hello Barryshapiro,

Thanks for post your questions in our forum.

Based on my knowledge, the feature to recall a message only available only if both you and the recipient have an Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange email account in the same organization. So, we cannot recall a message that is sent to a recipient who use Gmail account.

Moreover, as the success or failure of a message recall depends on the recipients' settings in Outlook. So, about your concerns about the “recall attempt”, I'd like to suggest that we can take a look at the part "To check on the recall" in following article to see if it helps: Recall or replace an email message that you sent.

    Hope above information helps.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer

Thanks. I understand how the recall process works. I am wondering how long the gmail recipient will receive recall messages from me. She has received two so far. Thanks

Thank you so much, Jennifer! That would be a good result. I think I didn't "recall and replace," but I hope the other way (without replace) ends in a similar result. Thanks again!!
