I currently have a small media server like setup using some old computer parts of mine, with Windows 10 Prof OEM setup on a SSD and 2 x 2Tb storage HDDs, which are partitioned to allow for a 500Gb software raid 1 per HDD (for redundancy) and the rest setup as software raid 0 for media speed.
I want to change out the barebones (mobo, CPU & RAM) out of this machine and upgrade to some hardware I have received from a friend, which is preferential.
I have also read online that Windows 10 licence can be bound to a windows account. So after all that background, this is my question:
If I use this method to change out my barebones components for the upgraded hardware (if it works), would it keep my software raid, as i'm not altering the Windows 10 installation on the SSD?
Alternatively, if I bought another OEM key for the changed out hardware, would I be able to swap the parts over, activate Windows and still keep my raid setup/data?

Hmm, you could give it a try but it might be quite buggy. When moving an OS between hardware, it can become quite buggy. The common practice is to wipe an install from fresh. If you can backup your RAID data to another location that word be the cleanest method.
As far as i'm aware, i'm not using a hardware based raid controller, but the Microsoft Spaces version, built into the OS.
Hi, is your raid controller built into your motherboard or is it a separate PCI one? If its PCI, then you should be ok but if its built into the motherboard, unfortunately not.

i was going to link my digital licence to my Microsoft account to change the motherboard over. Do you happen to know whether the OS will keep the software raid configuration, upon changing the motherboard?
