Synchronizing my AOL email into Outlook-365

I just subscribed to MS-365 and am trying to get my AOL email synchronized into my Outlook.  I had an old Outlook-2007 previously and all of those old emails were accurately absorbed into the new Outlook-365, but I can't get it to download the latest set of emails sitting out on the AOL server.   I can see them in my AOL webmail (on my PC or on my phone), but when I try to synchronize in Outlook-365, it can't find the AOL mail server.   For some reason, the Incoming and Outgoing servers were defaulted to "yahoo" server locations in Outlook-365.  (I've never used Yahoo email.)   I found instructions online to change to AOL and tried changing the Outlook-365 settings to use "imap.aol.com (port 993)" and "smtp.aol.com (port 465)" for in/out respectively, but that didn't work.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

    Hi FranLabate,

Yes, please try to create a new Outlook profile and use advanced setup to add an AOL IMAP email account in Outlook to check this issue. (Note: Don't delete the old Outlook profile)

Let us know the result, so that we can further assist you.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal

Thank you, Shyamal.  Does this answer your question?   I'll try the other advanced setup options.

One approach I tried earlier was to DELETE my existing email account and then recreate it, but I was hesitant to do that because it warned me that it would delete all existing information in cache and I wasn't certain that I wanted to risk that.

I have a huge (over 11 GB) OUTLOOK.PST file saved in my Outlook folder containing many years of emails.  I'd hate to have the system delete it if I were to go through this deletion process.

    Hi FranLabate,

May I know which Office 365 version are you using? Please provide us with the detailed information screenshot about this, see What version of Outlook do I have?

Based on the article your AOL IMAP/SMTP Settings are correct for Outlook.

Also double check the updated AOL email settings here in Troubleshooting Outlook email setup.

You may try to create a new Outlook profile and use advanced setup to add a AOL IMAP email account in Outlook to check this issue. See under Use advanced setup to add a POP or IMAP email account in Outlook for Windows (Note: Don't delete the old Outlook profile)

Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal
