Would be nice if the new outlook would stop trying to upgrade. I had to put in a registry edit to prevent conversion to a product that is inferior.
Does the new Outlook desktop client support MAPI automation?
The new Outlook desktop client currently in preview looks to me like the online version hosted in a browser control.
Will the new Outlook desktop client support MAPI automation?
I don't mean 'can I add a MAPI mail account to it'.
I mean 'can I automate the new Outlook from an external program and create new mail messages using the MAPI interface?'
Thanks

2023-06-27T11:28:33+00:00 Since the new Outlook seems to be a browser application the answer I suspect will be JavaScript, or bypass it completely with SMTP, or talk to Office 365 directly using the graph API.

The programmability plans mentioned so far are highlighted below. The main investment is to support web add-ins.
What’s next?
Features that we plan to release to our Insider community—both enterprise and consumer customers—in the upcoming months include:
- Support for multiple email accounts within the same app. In the future you will be able to access multiple email inboxes and calendars (including both work and personal) in the same Outlook experience, just as you can today in Outlook mobile.
- **Support for third-party email accounts in Outlook for Windows,**including Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, and more.
- Numerous visual updates and personalization options so you can create your preferred email experience.
- Offline support so you can get things done and access content even when not connected to the Internet.
- Search folders for quick and easy access to all your emails.
- Support for web add-ins to enrich emails and calendar events with third-party apps and services like Salesforce and Zoom.
