Burned cd will not play in cd player

Question

I just burned two cds using Windows Media Player. I then tried playing both of them in my Diskman, which does accept CD-R/RW, (I have been playing burned cds on it for years.) While it is playing, no sound is coming out at all. When I put the cd back in the computer, it plays just fine. What's the problem? And yes, the cd player itself is working just fine. All my other cds both burned and by artists are playing just fine.

Hi,

It could be the Disks themselves, the burn speed, or even the Live File Format instead of Mastered.

Maybe the settings have changed from those you used to use. Try comparing the setup of the

other CD-R/RW's which work to the latest you burned.

Another possibility (which would also be affected by burn speed) is that the two drives have "worn"

in opposite directions of the tolerance level such that one is on the + side and the other is on the

• side when considering burn and play so the combo no longer works. If this is true then the higher

burn speeds make this even more pronounced.
