How do I totally delete the New Outlook? I only know enough about computers to get myself in trouble and obviously I have done just that. It is just too confusing for my little mind. Way too many bells and whistles. Your help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.

You can uninstall it in Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps - search for Outlook (new). But it will be reinstalled and pushed on you if you use windows mail.

If you use classic Outlook desktop software that is installed with Office desktop software you can set registry keys so you don't accidentally switch it on. Instructions are here: https://www.slipstick.com/outlook/classic-outlook-not-new-outlook/

Let me know how it goes, I'm here to help you further if needed.

    Diane,

I clicked on ONE STAR totally by mistake. I'm appalled that MS would shove the new Outlook down our throats without any warning or choice. How DARE they?

Fortunately I use Revo Uninstaller, which always creates a Restore point before any install or uninstall operation. The Restore took about 10 minutes but now everything works the way it did before.

    try this..

create a powershell to uninstall outlook then add to task scheduler and run the script every 5-10 minutes. see full guide the link below:

that might work. But with this you only fight the symptoms, not the root of the whole evil. The question is: which part of Windows is responsible for the permanent updates and is there a way to deactivate the corresponding part? I've now switched to Thunderbird and Owl for Exchange as a test. However, Owl is subject to a fee and the overview and user-friendliness in the TB is not really good either.
In any case, I trust the MS swamp as little as possible

My Working Method to Prevent Automatic Installation of New Outlook

    Required Programs:

    1. Windows Mail and Calendar AppxBundle (available online)

    2. Uninstall Tool 3.5.2 (or any version, as there are many uninstall tools)

    Steps:

    1. Open the Uninstall Tool.

    2. Navigate to the "Windows Store Apps" tab at the bottom and locate Outlook New.

    3. Right-click on it and select Go to Installation Folder.

    4. Use IObit Unlocker to delete some files in that installation folder ( any files)

    5. Uninstall New Outlook from the Start Menu.

    6. Reinstall Windows Mail and Calendar AppxBundle

    Done!
