Your suggestion is a workaround. Why cant Office 365 just share using New Outlook on Win 11 PC? I have this problem sharing from Excel, Word and PPT in Office 365. Only way is to save the file, then go to new outlook and attach the saved file to a new email, which is very ackward.
Sharing from Word to Outlook still opens the old Outlook and not the new one so the emails are not sending.
Have upgraded to the new Outlook.
I used to be able to easily share a word doc or pdf version as an attachment onto email.
It currently still loads up the old outlook when using this feature. i want it to open up the new outlook when using the share feature on word.

2025-05-15T14:49:38+00:00 I had a user today with the same issue. To fix the issue I used the toggle to switch back to Classic Outlook. Then I switched it back to New Outlook and it resolved the issue. Shared word documents are now opening in the New Outlook.

2024-03-25T01:11:55+00:00 Any update on the answer to this question? I have the same problem.
When I am in Microsoft word and try to share a document via email, the old outlook client opens, rather than the "New Outlook".
I then hit send and because I don't have the old outlook open, the email just sits in the outbox and never actually sends.
Is there a way to make the "New" outlook the default email client for microsoft word email sharing?
Thanks,
Paul
