POP email accounts no longer working on New Outlook

I have both POP and IMAP email accounts configured on the Mail App in Windows 10. However, I have just switched to the New Outlook but now my POP email accounts no longer work. It is not even possible to reinstall the POP accounts as New Outlook only permits the configuration of IMAP accounts on the Mail App.

In the circumstances, is there any way I can go back to the Old Outlook? Can someone please advise?

    Hello Nancy2019

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

First, just so there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We're users helping other users. We do not work for Microsoft and have no input on Microsoft's policies, procedures, or design decisions.

At some point, the "new Outlook" is going to completely replace the Windows 10 / 11 Maiil app. At the current time, as you have discovered, the "new Outlook" does not support POP accounts.

With that said, if you are launching the "new Outlook" by clicking on the Mail icon in the Windows 10 / 11 Start menu, yu should see the ""new Outlook" toggle in the top right. Yu will not see that toggle if you explicitly launch "new Outlook" by clicking on the "Outlook new" icon

This is a terrible decision made with no warning for corporations who need pst files for legal purposes. Microsoft again defies its corporate users for entertainment and games. Microsoft is garbage. I am uninstalling Office for all our new machines and returning it for full refund as Outlook pop access was a key need for our firm. Again microsoft has failed us to great expense for our firm. We will look for an alternative for your monopoly on corporate email access, trying to get everyone to use your garbage Outllok.com

Since downloading my new subscription, particularly the 'new' Outlook, I cannot send or receive emails from my default email address which has a pop3 connection. My second email address that has an imap connection is fine. I've tried to change my default email without success. Advice please?

Are there any updates as to whether outlook will support POP in the future? I'm constantly being switched to the new Outlook and have to keep switching back to classic (they now hide the option in the help menu), but I don't know how much longer it will work. My IMAP settings from my hosting company do not work with the new Outlook and they have no solution for me.

Yesterday I installed Thunderbird, and have started using that. Sadly I think my Outlook days are numbered.
