POP email accounts no longer working on New Outlook

I have both POP and IMAP email accounts configured on the Mail App in Windows 10. However, I have just switched to the New Outlook but now my POP email accounts no longer work. It is not even possible to reinstall the POP accounts as New Outlook only permits the configuration of IMAP accounts on the Mail App.

In the circumstances, is there any way I can go back to the Old Outlook? Can someone please advise?

    Hello Nancy2019

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

First, just so there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We're users helping other users. We do not work for Microsoft and have no input on Microsoft's policies, procedures, or design decisions.

At some point, the "new Outlook" is going to completely replace the Windows 10 / 11 Maiil app. At the current time, as you have discovered, the "new Outlook" does not support POP accounts.

With that said, if you are launching the "new Outlook" by clicking on the Mail icon in the Windows 10 / 11 Start menu, yu should see the ""new Outlook" toggle in the top right. Yu will not see that toggle if you explicitly launch "new Outlook" by clicking on the "Outlook new" icon

I had a wonderfully patient microsoft agent change my email account from pop to imap and I'm not using the new Outlook. Really appreciated someone recognising the problem and providing a solution after 2 previous attempts by other people!

I have come to this discussion after a lot of mess with Outlook and with Outlook for iOS. I've got my POP account working fine on my laptop (using New Outlook), but my iOS version seems to be stuck. Formerly (before New Outlook) the two Outlooks mirrored each other, which is what I want.

Now, the version on my phone has not updated anything for the last week. Laptop version working fine. I have tried deleting, resetting, etc., on the phone, just about every "fix" I can find on the internet, with no luck. Today I thought about deleting my account and re-adding it after a phone reset. However: no POP available on the phone! Will this be fixed sometime?

i have an old outlook address which i found from my old computer XP which had outlook express as it's mail , then it went to windows mail when i got windows 10 so changed, outlook works but my pop accounts with plusnet won't accept it as yet, i don't bother with microsoft account on i.pad as easier with my plusnet account, come to the conclusion that it's Plusnet thats the problem they haven't sorted it yet, will still use Thunderbird e.mail as long as i can.
