Insert as Text missing when adding an attachment to an email

Hi there

We have noticed that the insert as text option is missing from the insert attachment option when composing an email and then trying to send an HTML attachment but as the text.

We have also tried to research this issue and found a number of articles such as this one :

How to insert HTML source code to Outlook emails (linkedin.com)

However if we apply this action it still makes no difference and we are not able to add the attachment as text.

We quite often will forward or send HTML attachments but place them in the email as source text which is much more helpful and easier for the users.

We are on Windows 10 Enterprise, version 22H2

Any help on this would be appreciated

Thank you

Regards

Try putting Outlook in Safe Mode. When starting Outlook hold down the Ctrl key until you click Ok on the Safe Mode prompt. It's possible an add-in is changing the option in the drop-down menu. If you happen to have another computer without add-ins test on it and see if it works, there. Sometimes add-ins will stay running even in Safe Mode so you could also disable them by going to File, Options, Add-ins, Go. Note which are checked or screen shot, then uncheck them all and restart.

    Thank you Gabriel!

It is indeed an add in! Turns out our Mimecast add in seems to be changing the insert option to Open. Not sure how we will get around this as its quite an important add in so we cant simply disable it. Cheers for the advice though
