I can't believe it's intentional on Microsoft's part. I hope, it's just a temporary issue! When Microsoft allows the use of free email accounts like Gmail with his New Outlook app, they surely wouldn't intentionally block the use of their own paid "Exchange Online Plan 1" accounts. It doesn't make sense! If it were confirmed that this is intentional, it would make one question the value of continuing to pay for the "Exchange Online Plan 1" subscription. In the past, I have already considered saving money by switching to MailPlus on my NAS. Maybe, this is the last straw?
New Outlook App (Mail and Calendar substitute) problems with some Microsoft 365 licenses.
Hi,
in our Microsoft 365 tenant we've three license types:
- Exchange Online (Plan 1),
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic,
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard.
If all our users Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Standard try the new Outlook App they can login without problems while for licensed Exchange Online (Plan 1) users the following error is showing: "This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by you work or school. Try to login with
another account or go to Outlook on the web.".
This is deliberate behavior or not?
All our Exchange Online (Plan 1) users in this moment can use "old" Mail and Calendar which will be replaced by new Outlook App in 2024, so they won't be able to use new Outlook App?
The only solution will be to use Outlook Web or upgrade all this licences?
Thanks.

2023-09-22T07:21:49+00:00 Hi,
the users who are using Microsoft 365 Business Basic switch to the new Outlook selecting the toggle in the upper right of the Mail and Calendar App and as explained this does not work for Exchange Online (Plan 1) users.
But if I can add on new Outlook app other email account such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook free domains (@outlook.com, @live.com, hotmail.com) or other private domains using IMAP protocol, why I can't use this app with a licensed Microsoft 365 account?
Yes I know, Exchange Online (Plan 1) It's the basic license type of 365 suite but it's not free, so If I can use new Outlook app with other email providers, why not with all Microsoft 365 accounts?
Furthermore even if it is a preview version and maybe more features will be added, in this moment new Outlook App, is the same as the web version and doesn't have all the features of Outllook Desktop, you said it's deliberate behavior but if a Exchange Online (Plan 1) users can use Mail and Calendar app and OWA, why not new Outlook App?
Thanks!

More plan 1 if only for email and cannot get any other web version, only can use plan 1 to access outlook on the web to access your emails.
