HP has had me update the BIOS to try and fix this...no dice.

HP G6 800 systems come with M.2 SSD's. Client does not want SSD for a server. Removed M.2 drive, installed SATA drives. Booted to USB to install OS, got to screen asking where to install OS and there are no drives showing.
Rebooted into BIOS, shows the SATA hard drives. Am I missing the chipset driver? Located the AMD chipset driver and it 
won't install from command line, tells me the OS version for the driver is wrong. HP have washed their hands because it's seen in BIOS.
Where do I go from here?

2021-07-06T22:30:25.623+00:00 Already tried that...the AMD chipset driver won't load. Says it's the wrong version for the OS. Checked the AMD site and there is only one version of the driver.
Then I booted to the diagnostics and went to command line and tried that, with the same result.
I read something about making sure you use a USB 2.0 port because the BIOS won't like 3.0 and (unfortunately) they are ALL USB 3.1 ports on the bloody thing! <facepalm>

2021-07-07T15:20:40.4+00:00 I wish it was that easy...I've tried delays of 5, 10, 15 & 30 seconds. Also disabled Fast-boot...
Still the same. I see the drives in BIOS (now showing as RAID since I set it up in the F3 boot screen) but it won't show in the dialog for Server 2016 Installer.
I'm fairly certain it's just missing the SATA storage controller driver, but the system still won't let me install it as it's an *.exe Windows updater file (downloaded from both HP and AMD) and not a *.msi or .sys file.
I think I'm closer to understanding it...just need to figure out how to get the .msi file copied so I can at least load the storage driver, then I can update it to a newer version with the full-blown installer after the OS is running.
Fortunately, I have some time. This is a test system...I have a few months until I get a batch of these dropped into my lap to configure as servers.
I think I'm going to install the M.2 drive back in the system and scan it for the drivers, copy them to USB, shut down and remove the M.2 and then start it back up. I'd have the "required" files for the storage controller on the USB to then select the "Load Driver" as @Anonymous suggested.

...nearly ready to use this thing for target practice. ;-)
A last-ditch hail-Mary will be build the M.2 as 2016 Server, make an image from it, restore the image to the SATA drives and then remove the M.2 and boot to the SATA, as all the needed drivers would/SHOULD be there.
I've got 80+ of these systems to build 1st quarter next year...putting the 2016 Server image on my NAS and booting via USB and installing the OS is going to be faster in the long run. It's just the issue of getting to the SATA drives right now to actually install the OS.
