Outlook 365 won't let me designate senders as junk in my comcast.net email account

I just loaded Office 365 on a new windows 11 computer. I have an email account with Xfinity (which use to be Comcast). The email server (or whatever the verbiage after the @ sign is called) is comcast.net. Everything went fine in accessing my comcast.net emails in Outlook 365 until I discovered there was no way to identify senders as junk. This is a huge problem since I'll be overrun by junk if I can't filter the junk out. I've been using Office desktop for decades and this has never been a problem. In Office 365 I select Settings | Manage Account then select my comcast.net email address from the dropdown, then select Mail | junk I get the following message: "Junk email settings are not supported for the selected account". Can anyone help me with this specific problem? How do I talk to a Microsoft support human being about this? Thank you.

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.

The new Outlook that replaces Windows Mail does not currently support blocked list for IMAP account, only outlook.com.

If you need to block mail, you need to use the classic Outlook desktop software that is installed with Office desktop software.

do you have Office software installed? If yes, Type Outlook on the start menu - do you have 2 listed? You want the one that does not have the "new" banner on it.

You can leave Feedback from the Help tab > Feedback or in the Outlook Feedback Portal at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/89a8afa3-2e1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472

Let me know how it goes, I'm here to help you further if needed.

Thanks Diane. It took me a long time to get that information and I certainly appreciate it, even if I don't like the answer. You suggested I run Outlook Desktop along side Outlook 365. I thought of that and was told those two programs were incompatible: it's one or the other. If that's not true I'd sure like to hear about it.

    Best regards,

Hopefully we are both using the same terminology for the same Outlook.... Microsoft doesn't make it easy with everything named Outlook.

If you have more than one version of classic Outlook desktop (for example, Outlook 365 and Outlook 2010) software that is installed with Office desktop software installed, you can only open one classic Outlook app at a time.

If you have classic Outlook and new Outlook, you can use both at the same time.
