Mailbox looked funny, sent email but not received and now not in sent items... any ideas how to recover the sent email?

I was using my sister's desktop and wanted to send an email to myself as a reminder, so I clicked the envelope "mail' icon. It took me to her Hotmail. I composed and sent the email. The lay out of the Hotmail did look strange but confirmed it was her account (email address in top left). I did note that the inbox had a last received email from 2 months ago but checked the sent items and there was my email to myself. Turned her pc off. Then realised I hadn't received the email and when I turned her pc back on... the Hotmail layout looked how it usually looks and her inbox was up to date. No email to myself in the sent items. what happened can I get that email back?

    Hi Jay B,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

Here are some steps that you can follow:

    • You can check if you accidentally signed in to a different Hotmail account than your sister's. Sometimes, the mail icon on the desktop may open a different email client or browser than the one your sister usually uses. You can verify the email address that you used by checking the history or cookies of the browser that you used. If you find out that you used a different account, you can try to sign in to that account and check the sent items folder for your email
    • You can check if your email was moved to a different folder or deleted by a filter or rule. Sometimes, Hotmail may automatically sort or delete emails based on certain criteria, such as sender, subject, or content. You can check the other folders in your sister's Hotmail account, such as junk, spam, archive, or custom folders, for your email. You can also check the deleted items folder and the recover deleted items option for your email
    • You can check if your email was blocked or delayed by a spam filter or security feature. Sometimes, Hotmail may prevent or delay the delivery of emails that are suspected to be spam, phishing, or malicious. You can check the settings of your sister's Hotmail account and see if there are any blocked senders, safe senders, or security features that may affect your email. You can also check the settings of your own email account and see if there are any similar issues

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
