Alternate Email not recognized for Verification code

Question

I have two (2) alternate emails for verification, BOTH of which start with the SAME 2 letters ('xr' in this case) as my Hotmail email address.

When I try to use either of these alternate email addresses to get a verification code, it tells me (quote) "That doesn't match the alternate email associated with your account. The correct email starts with "xr". (end quote)

For some reason, it's not letting me upload the screen shot I took, which CLEARLY shows that the alternate emails indeed start with "xr" so I don't understand WHY I'm getting this error.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Update: it finally allowed me to upload the screen shot. Please note that the email address starts with the CORRECT letters

You can get it to send the code if you type in your email address with %2E instead of the . character. I had an example but it thought it was a real email address so removed it but if you just type %2E instead of a period of the third character it accepts the email as %2E is a url encoded .

I am having the same issue. It says my email address does not match. I have checked it on my account and it has not changed. Been the same for years, yet when I try to change the email it says it already matches the one on my account. It's in a loop. One page says it doesn't match yet another page says it does and I can't update any of my security information until this is resolved.

My email address cannot complete the security verification process due to a technical limitation. My email address contains a period (".") as the third character, which seems to be causing an issue with the validation system.

In my case, I only have two letters as an email name.

For example, if my alternative email is ******@XYZ.org

Verify your email We will send a verification code to ab*****@XYZ.org. To verify that this is your email address, enter it below.

When I key in ******@XYZ.org, it always shows
That doesn't match the alternate email associated with your account. The correct email starts with "ab".

Any trick to bypass the check?

I have this issue. The alternative email is not recognised, even though it is the correct one listed in my account. Using the mentioned %2E lets me log in and finally remove this secondary email address
