    Hello Kaneheng123,

    Good day!

I hope this message finds you well. I'm so sorry to hear that you're experiencing an issue with the inbox view spacing in Microsoft Outlook Classic. I understand how frustrating it can be to have a disrupted inbox view, making it difficult to read and navigate your emails.

    Issue Summary:

    1. The issue is with Microsoft Outlook Classic.
    2. The problem is with the inbox view of received emails (not when composing a new email).
    3. Specifically, there is a spacing issue in the inbox view.

I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you. I'm committed to helping you resolve this issue and get your inbox view back to normal.

To better understand the issue, could you provide a bit more detail?

1.Can you give me the version number of the Classic Outlook app you using?- About Office: What version of Office am I using? - Microsoft Support

    1. Have you noticed any recent changes or updates to your Outlook or system?
    2. .Which email account type are you using? (eg. Exhange, IMAP, POP3 etc.)

Are you using Microsoft365 business account(******@xxx.onmicrosoft.com/******@yourdomain.com)  or personal account (which is ended with outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com/msn.com) or some other 3rd party pop/imap account?

Based on experience about issues like these I have handled in the past, usually this happens when you are using HTML format instead of Plain text format. Kindly check that to see if that is the reason. Other reasons might be:

    • View Settings: The current view settings might be causing the spacing issue.
    • Corrupted Profile: Your Outlook profile might be corrupted, leading to unexpected behavior.
    • Add-ins: Certain add-ins might be interfering with the display settings.

Since we cannot point out the root cause yet I want to provide a guide for you which might help identify the problem. Kindly follow this guide:

Using the Run Command and start Outlook in safe Mode:

    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type Outlook.exe /safe and click OK.
    • This will help us identify if the cause is from an Add-in. If you can view mails without spacing then we will have to start outlook and disable the add-ins one by one to identify the particular add-in causing this issue.

    Reset View Settings:

    • Go to the View tab in Outlook.
    • Click on Reset View to revert to the default view settings.

    Create a New Outlook Profile:

    • Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
    • Click Add to create a new profile and configure your email account.
    • Set the new profile as the default and see if the issue is resolved.

    Check for Updates:

    • Ensure that both Outlook and Windows are up to date.
    • Go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

    Check View Settings:

    • Open Outlook and go to the View tab.
    • Look for the Message Preview option and adjust it to your preference (e.g., 1 Line, 2 Lines).
    • Check if there’s an option labeled Use Tighter Spacing and toggle it on or off as needed

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation. Have a great day! I will be looking forward to hear from you.

Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Community.

    Hello Kaneheng123,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to start by apologizing for the delay in my response. We've been conducting some internal consultations to ensure that we provide the best possible solution for your issue with the inbox view spacing in Microsoft Outlook Classic.

Thank you for your patience and for providing the additional information we requested earlier. I appreciate the time you took to provide detailed answers to our questions.

I have a follow-up question to help us further troubleshoot the issue. Could you please let me know if the problem occurs for you in all accounts or just in your corporate email address? Specifically, we're trying to determine if the issue is isolated to your corporate mailbox or if it's a more general issue affecting multiple accounts.

Your input will be invaluable in helping us get to the bottom of this issue. Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.

    Best regards,
