Outlook not downloading pictures/images in emails

Hi,

All of a sudden, my outlook has stopped displaying images in my emails and replaced them with the dreaded red cross. I've tried all the usual remedies, trust center settings and Internet options, safe senders, download pictures, etc but to no avail. I also don't have any anti-virus running and I have turned off my firewall.

I run MS Office365 on my windows laptop.

Can you advise what else I can do.

Thanks

Jim

    Dear Jim

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with Outlook not displaying images. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Check Trust Center Settings: Ensure that the settings to block automatic picture downloads are disabled. Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Automatic Download and make sure the "Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or RSS items" checkbox is unchecked.
    2. Add Senders to Safe Senders List: Sometimes, adding the sender's email address or domain to the Safe Senders List can help. Right-click on a blocked image in an email, select "Add Sender to Safe Senders List" or "Add the Domain @domain to Safe Senders List".
    3. Clear Outlook Cache: Corrupted cache files can cause issues. Navigate to C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook and delete any temporary files found there.
    4. Disable Add-ins: Add-ins can sometimes interfere with Outlook's functionality. Go to File > Options > Add-ins, select COM Add-ins, and click Go. Uncheck any add-ins you suspect might be causing the issue and click OK.
    5. Repair Office Installation: If the issue persists, you might want to repair your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and click on Change. Choose Quick Repair or Online Repair and follow the instructions.
    6. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Office applications are up to date. Open any Office application, go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact Outlook support for further assistance.

    1. Open this link Contact Us - Microsoft Support.
    2. It will ask you to log in to your personal account associated with your Microsoft 365/Office subscription.
    3. Once you are logged in to your account. It will ask you to select a product.
    4. Select Office.
    5. Then select Get Home Support.
    6. You need to provide the issue you are facing.
    7. At the bottom of the page. Select the Contact Support option.
    8. Select Microsoft 365 and Office.
    9. In Categories, you can select Outlook and confirm it.
    10. It will ask you to select a support option. It is up to you if you want to change your regional settings.
    11. Then select Chat with a support agent in a web browser.
    12. It will automatically direct you to the live support.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

    Best regards,
