    Dear Kathy Cutlip

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having trouble on logging into Hotmail redirects to Outlook.

First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for the difficulty you are experiencing. We take your security and privacy very seriously, and what you're experiencing is something we don't want to see happen.

Hotmail accounts have actually been integrated into Outlook.com by Microsoft, so accessing a Hotmail mailbox will automatically redirect to the Outlook interface. Despite this, you can still log in using your Hotmail email address and password.

Here are the steps to access your Hotmail account:

    1. Visit the login page: Go to https://outlook.live.com.
    2. Enter your Hotmail address: Enter your Hotmail email address (e.g., yourname @ hotmail.com) in the login box.
    3. Enter your password: Enter the password associated with your Hotmail account.
    4. Log in: Click the "Sign In" button.

If you wish to use the old interface of Hotmail, you may not be able to do so, as Microsoft no longer supports the standalone interface for Hotmail. All Hotmail messages will be displayed in the Outlook interface, but you can still access and manage all your messages.

I see that you say the Hotmail account is old, are you logging into your Outlook.com inbox at least once a year (Hotmail is now equivalent to Outlook). Otherwise, we will close your Outlook.com Inbox (naturally, emails from this section will not be received in your Inbox).

Closing your inbox does not mean that the account is closed, so you will not be able to send and receive emails normally until the next time you log in.

I hope my explanation can help you.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

    Sincerely,

I am in a state of frustration as I have been trying to access my email (hotmail) for three days. I have followed all the recommendations by Microsoft to be able to recover my account, but it has not helped since I do not remember the answer to the security question or the password. The cell phone number linked to the hotmail account is not the current one. I am desperate for help. Since I have to get the photos from when my oldest son was a baby to put them in his graduation. I do not like how Microsoft handles this situation. They do not give you alternatives. I will appreciate if their is a companioned person that can help me or contact me .

Re step suggested in your response :

When I visit the login page I do not have the option of inserting my Hotmail address in te login box as the screen has gone automatically to my Outlook account.
