Updated my classic Outlook to the NEW Outlook. In the process, I seem to have lost all my contacts and list of email addresses. How can I locate them or does upgrading to the new outlook erase them?

This problem affects the outlook.com contacts as well. On my Android phone, all pictures for contacts disappeared, but everything else seemed normal which was strange. I logged into outlook.com and the contact list there and details for contacts is at least 6 months old.

I was able to export my contacts on my phone to a VCF to preserve them, but I'm not sure how much was actually changed or lost.

I hope the contact list gets restored. I can't imagine what this will be like if millions of people's data is lost or is out of date.

Why would Microsoft knowingly release a product that eliminates important information such as "CONTACTS". This is UNACCEPTABLE. I lost everything and I tried your fix and didn't work. I specifically DID NOT want my contacts on any CLOUD service. That's why they were locally stored and it has worked fine for years. I just don't understand how a company would knowingly screw something up this bad. I am looking into legal action, as I lost over 3000 contacts for my charity.

“Note: Exporting and importing a mailbox using a .pst file isn't supported in new Outlook at this time. To export a mailbox, you need to use the desktop version of Outlook (also known as classic Outlook) following the steps below..."

I lost my Outlook-2021 contacts when the new Outlook was installed.

I lost access to my Outlook-2021 contacts when the new Outlook was installed. The new Outlook was installed by Microsoft, automatically. There is no way to import my contacts from Outlook-2021.

MICROSOFT: "...“Note: Exporting and importing a mailbox using a .pst file isn't supported in new Outlook at this time. To export a mailbox, you need to use the desktop version of Outlook (also known as classic Outlook) following the steps below..."

I no longer have the "old" Outlook-2021 to use to create an export file(CSV). The Microsoft directions on the help screen say to use the "toggle switch" to select the "old" version; the switch does not work...

So, I have an old copy of Outlook 2010 and a license for Outlook 2021. I'm going to try an installation of each and see what happens. If this works, I'll export the contacts to a CSV file so the te new Outlook can import this format.

    What a mess...

Same thing has happened to me! I can't even recover the "old" Outlook. It says that it's not available. This is so frustrating.
