I have used the same Outlook settings since Telus switched over to gmail. All of a sudden 3 of our emails are not working to bring in email nor send with Outl;ook Classic. The one email that uses Imap seems to be working. I was told to contact Microsoft but cannot seem to find out how. It works to login to Gmail online. Is there anyone else having this issues or would have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Hello, my name is Femi. I'm an Independent advisor and a Microsoft fan like you. I know how frustrating this can be and I'll be happy to help you out today.

make sure these settings are exactly right for each account

    IMAP (Recommended)

    Incoming Mail Server (IMAP):

    imap.gmail.com

    Port: 993

    Encryption: SSL/TLS

    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):

    smtp.gmail.com

    Port: 465 or 587

    Encryption: SSL/TLS

Requires Authentication: Yes (use same username and password)

you can configure Imap for the other email

Hello Liane, If the pop is working you don't have to use IMAP, But if the POP is not working you can try to use the IMAP settings and check if it is going to resolve the issue.

can you share the pop settings you currently have with me, switching to Imap can be a tedious steps sometimes

Is the POP email stored on the server?

If it is not stored on the server the imap might not be able to sync any email.

    to convert to imap

first you have to Back Up Your Emails to be safe

In Outlook: Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export > Export to a file > Outlook Data File (.pst)

Save your POP mailbox to a .pst file

This keeps a backup in case anything goes wrong

(don’t delete the POP account yet!)

Now Set Up IMAP as a New Account Go to File > Add Account

Enter your email and choose IMAP

This will create a second mailbox in Outlook (side-by-side with the old POP one)

Manually Copy Folders from POP to IMAP

In Outlook, open both inboxes (POP and IMAP accounts)

Drag and drop folders (or emails) from your POP inbox/folders to your IMAP inbox/folders

You can move the entire contents of folders like Inbox, Sent Items, etc.

Create custom folders in the IMAP account to match your current setup if needed

This process uploads your old emails to the IMAP server, so they’ll sync across devices.

    Wait for Sync to Finish

Depending on how many emails you have, it may take time for Outlook to upload everything to the IMAP server

Make sure the sync finishes before removing the POP account
