Outlook 365 - Categories in Calendar no longer available

Hi

I have looked through various posts and cant seem to find a definitive answer on whether the 'category' functionality is available in Outlook 365. I run my work and personal life through the categorisation [removed_js], however when trying to now categorise in 'new' Outlook, this option is nowhere to be found.

I have a Microsoft 365 Family account, and my email account is an IMAP rather than a POP so not sure whether this is an issue.

It would be easier to switch back to 'old' Outlook, however I cant seem to do that either as my emails will not come through onto this account any longer (though goes through to the new Outlook)

Any and all advice appreciated!

TD

Thank you for your prompt reply Ulrica.W!

I understand the limitations of categories in IMAP, it still works on my work account so obviously not impacted on MS Exchange accounts!

    Thanks,

    Tain

    Dear TDrinky,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have some doubts when using the calendar categorization function, and let me explain it to you.

I have read your description. You are right. The category function in the Outlook calendar indeed does not support IMAP accounts.

Please refer to this official instruction:

Create and assign color categories in Outlook - Microsoft Support

    It clearly states in it:

If you want to use the category function, you can only configure the account as a POP type or use a Microsoft domain mailbox (Outlook/Hotmail/Live/MSN).

This is due to the system design. In my tests, whether it is the classic version of Outlook or the new Outlook, the situation is the same. Therefore, changing the version will not change this situation either.

I hope my explanations can provide you with some references. Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.  Wish you have a good day!

    Best Regards,
