Hi longestdrive94,
Thank you for posting here in Community.
Got it—and you’re absolutely right to expect that managing additional addresses like aliases should be more intuitive than it sometimes is.
You're using Office 365 Premium with a custom domain from GoDaddy, and your main email (say, ******@emailaddress.com) is already set up and functioning. Now, you’d like to create another address—like ******@emailaddress.com—that funnels into your main inbox without needing a separate mailbox. Totally fair and a really smart way to keep things organized.
Let’s walk through a clean way to get that set up using an email alias:
Here’s What You Can Do:
1. Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Sign in at admin.microsoft.com with your admin credentials.
2. Navigate to Users > Active Users
- Find your main account (
******@emailaddress.com), then click on the name to open its details.
3. Add an Alias
- Under Username / Email aliases, look for the option to Add Alias.
- Type
******@emailaddress.comand confirm. It must be a domain you already own (which you do). - Click Save Changes.
It might take a few minutes for the alias to propagate across Microsoft services.
And Then…
Emails sent to ******@emailaddress.com will now arrive directly in your ******@emailaddress.com inbox. No need to set up separate mailboxes or accounts. You can even create an Outlook rule to auto-tag or sort incoming mail sent to that alias.
One Caveat With GoDaddy:
Since your domain is hosted via GoDaddy and tied into Microsoft 365, if you're using the GoDaddy Microsoft 365 interface, it may not expose all of the same admin options. In that case:
- Log directly into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center at admin.microsoft.com, not through GoDaddy.
- If that doesn’t work, you may need to transfer admin control from GoDaddy to Microsoft—something worth doing if you want full flexibility.
You’re not alone in getting tripped up here—it’s a common hiccup for users dealing with hosted domains and multiple interfaces. But this alias approach is definitely the smoothest fix. Let me know if you want to set up rules or test that alias once it’s live—I’ve got your back.
Best regards,
