I get the error message Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay open for recording when I want to record a macro to my personal macro workbook so I can run the macro on any worksheet. Any help would be appreciated

Select Help | About Microsoft Excel...
Click Disabled Items...
If Personal.xls is listed, select it, and click Enable.
Select File > Options.
Click Add-Ins in the navigation pane on the left hand side.
Select 'Disabled Items' from the Manage dropdown near the bottom of the dialog.
Click Go...
Got it myself! Searched my C: drive for *.xlsb and it came up with personal.xlsb. Right click and press Open. Macros now work and new macros can be recorded.

Hi, I got excel 2010. Under help I cannot find the disable Items under about Microsoft excel. Can you please help? I have lost all my macros
Thanks worked like a charm. Did have to close and reopen excel.
BTW, this happened after I updated office.
Nice feature - randomly disable personal macro workbook. Thanks Microsoft.
