WAC on Azure Cloud to Manage Azure Stack HCI.

Hello Experts,

Is it feasible to deploy WAC on Azure Cloud to Manage Azure Stack HCI?

As I understand, I would need a local WAC to bring up cluster and setup services (S2D, SDN and Cluster) but post that can I spin up a VM in cloud and manage (Create new VMs, Run AKS Clusters etc.) Azure Stack directly from Azure Public cloud.

Are there any blockers around it?

Regards,
Yash

    Hi @Yash ,

I confirmed with our engineering team that Windows Admin Center deployed in Azure is currently only available to manage Azure IaaS VMs and not for on-prem management. This is something on their roadmap for looking at a future release, but there isn't anything further I can share at this time.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi @Yash ,

After re-reading your ask, I may have initially confused what it is you are looking to do. As such, please allow me to provide a little additional clarity.

Using Windows Admin Center directly within the Azure portal (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/manage/windows-admin-center/azure/manage-vm) is not currently supported for managing on-prem infrastructure. However, if you manually install Windows Admin Center onto a VM that is hosted in Azure (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/manage/windows-admin-center/azure/deploy-wac-in-azure), this IS supported to manage on-prem infrastructure.

My apologies if I did misunderstand your initial ask.

    Thanks so much!
    Trent
